Happy New Year ! Time to get back to serious training, nose to the grindstone, knuckles to the floor, feet to the bag etc. Our last class of the year was held on Mon. Dec. 29th, and it happened to be a testing class for Adam and Chad. Actually every adult that showed up was tested, different ranks performed their kata and were corrected by the upper ranks, so everyone was involved. The one hour weapons test was very demanding and designed to wear the testees down. However it did not work with Adam and Chad they stayed very strong through the whole test. Then the two hour empty hand test followed, again they were strong to the end. The one point fighting was great, amazing how long it takes to score one good point. Just like a real fight, you go in for the kill, no dancing around, just get it done. Adam's quality and speed has really increased in the last half of this year, he really prepared well for this test and made me proud. Then there is Chad, he was snapping his gi with every move from beginning of the test to the end. It is really hard to find mistakes in Chads karate. He makes me proud as a student and a son. Of all the tests we have conducted at OKI this has to be one of the cleanest (free of mistakes) I have ever seen. CONGRATULATIONS ! to Shodan Adam, and NIDAN Chad.
