Yes finally the wait is over, but it was worth the wait, The makiwara is up in the main Dojo, This is a cross between a Naha and a Ude All right I will explain, the Naha makiwara is basically a flat board and the Ude is a round post, you will have to see it. Be prepared to toughen up ! I am sure the adults will be pounding away at tomorrow's class, however I have decided not to let the kids bang away. I have been reading that children under 16 should not train steadily on this because it can cause problems in people that have not fully developed. This type of makiwara does have a small flat surface to strike with the knucles and slightly rounded on the sides so you can kick it with your shins. Another nice feature is that it is not permanent, it can be moved around where needed.
